Left Handed Hammers

The Search Is Over

If you found this page searching for a left handed track and field hammer, we have good news and great news. You can also find the YouTube short here.

Good news first: your left handed athlete is going to be just fine. Great news: you can stop searching, because a left handed hammer does not exist and your child does not need one. Unlike a golf club or a pair of scissors, a track and field hammer is a perfectly round metal ball attached to a wire with a handle at the end. It has no face, no blade, no directional bias, and absolutely no preference for which hand is in charge.

A left handed thrower simply holds the handle with their left hand on top, rotates in the opposite direction from a right handed thrower, and releases the same implement into the same sector. The hammer does not know or care. What matters is finding the right weight for your athlete's age and level, and 4Throws has everything you need to get them started, no handedness required.
