Which tip do I need?
Quick answer: most athletes should choose a Steel Tip unless their state or meet requires a Rubber Tip.
Steel Tip: best for most sanctioned competitions. Steel tips stick into the ground on landing, which helps officials measure valid throws.
Rubber Tip: used when a state requires rubber-tipped javelins for safety or surface protection.
A tip can't be changed after the javelin is built. Check your state rules or ask your coach before ordering.
Which javelin weight do I need?
Women throw the 600g javelin and men throw the 800g javelin in high school, college and open competition.
Special weights (300g, 400g, 500g, 700g and 900g) are used by youth and masters athletes and for under- and over-weight training.
What does meter rating mean?
Meter rating indicates the stiffness and flex profile of the javelin, which directly impacts flight and performance.
Lower meter ratings offer more flex and are ideal for developing throwers, while higher ratings provide increased stiffness for stronger, more advanced athletes.
